30/05/2026 - June 16 is a Tench fishing day
A summer tench caught on bread flake
16th of June for many thousands of anglers is the start of a new coarse fishing season, my first day will start at dawn in search of Tench. Leading up to that first dawn start on the 16th I have been raking and baiting several swims, I'm pleased to say after the first session of swim preparation, I found the next morning just after dawn that Tench were feeding, it was like a Jacuzzi with the amount of pin head bubble showing.
I then added more ground bait with a lot of the hook bait I will be using. It was a lovely dawn, light wisps of mist were coming off the water, a pair of moorhens were taking their four chicks towards a dense bed of rushes for security from crows and other vermin. Occasionally a good Tench rolled on the surface. The large patches of water lilies some white, others yellow, added a dash of colour. Roll on June16th I will keep you informed as we wait for that magic day
