17/03/2026 - Six chub in a two hour session
I arrived on the river this morning around 0900 hrs, there was a very strong wind from the south west but often it would be from all directions, I had planned to float fish, but decided I would be better ledgering using a Stonze weight so I could roll the bait downstream, in this way I could cover a lot of water, it often take a bit of time to get the right size stonze for the job, to light it just rolls and bounces all over the place, to heavy it will stay in one place. So, it's a case of trial and error until you have it right. It's certainly time well spent. My tackle was an Avon action 11-foot rod matched with small, fixed spool reel loaded with 10lb braid, I find braid the perfect line for this type of angling. I ended my session with 2 x 4lb plus chub, 4 lb 6 ounces and 4 lb 4 ounces, 3x3 lb plus chub and 0ne fish about 2lbs plus
