08/03/2014 - 2lb 8 ounce Roach from the Avon at Britford

I have just had a few days on the Avon at Britford London Anglers Association water, where I spent some time watching Charlie Kemmett  float fishing for roach.  Charlie caught plenty of pound plus roach during the week with several just over 2lbs.  Yesterday Friday 7th March 2014 he topped off a great weeks fishing, with a roach of  2lb 8 ounces amng a catch of big roach which also included a 2lb 1 ounce fish. All his roach were caught long trotting, the fish being hooked at the end of the 40 yard swim within 2 feet of the far bank, with the horrid cross wind it was a demonstration of excellent float fishing and a pleasure to watch. His tackle set up was a Dave Harrell Avon type float at 5grms 0.12 main line ,hook length 0.10 to a 16 hook. The double red gentle hook bait was tripping the bottom . A great display of roach fishing by Charlie, I felt privileged to watch this fine roach angler in action.
