17/03/2016 - Obituary John Turner 1926 - 2016

Sadly I have to report John Turner born 22nd June 1926, Honorary Life Member Vice President and long-time secretary of Prince Albert Angling Society passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 2nd 2016 his cremation taking place at Macclesfield crematorium on March 10th 2016. Having joined the society in 1967 John served for over 30 years on the Prince Albert Angling Society committee. I firmly believe everyone one of us who is or was a member of the Society owe a huge debt of thanks to this gentleman. When I was given the honour of being made a Vice President, John was my mentor who carefully guided me through the first couple of AGM’s, his knowledge of angling law, the organisation of a society matters was second to none. Though he retired from the committee, being replaced by another excellent secretary, I would like to think John’s work for the society will never be forgotten. With the passing of John the society have lost a great servant. Let’s not forget his long wartime service with the British Army during World War 2 eventually ending up in Germany at the end of the war. I’ve lost a great friend who cannot replaced. My condolences to his family and many friends. Rest in Peace dear friend Martin James MBE
