Lets stop spraying slurry on the frozen fields alongside our rivers and streams

No doubt some readers over the past few days will have seen the frozen fields alongside the River Ribble being covered with slurry. When it rains much of the filth will go into the river. Those readers who were on the river today will have seen that result. Not only was the river a horrid dirty colour, but also it smelt horrid. Is it not time that spraying slurry on frozen fields was banned. What damage is this doing to the aquatic insect life which every fish needs for its start in life. Its a pity that the Angling Trust doesn't have a hundred thousand members, then perhaps they will have some teeth and a voice that can get some action. Thankfully Martin Salter has come on board the AT as National Campaigns Co-coordinator which I feel is a breath of fresh air. Something we didn't have on the River Ribble today
