Please support the Army Benevolent Fund - We owe them that support

We are ABF the Soldiers’ Charity. We give a lifetime of support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. They risk so much for us, but for them, it’s just doing their job’. In return, we give those down to earth help, with no hassle or bureaucracy. That’s what we have been doing for over 66 years.

Currently due to the conflict in Afghanistan the demand on the British Armed Forces is high and so is the need to support soldiers and their families affected by the conflict. The Army is the force with the largest casualty numbers:

• Soldiers are injured mentally and physically every week.
• Families are left to cope caring for a spouse with a disability or the children on their own.
• Over the last two years we have seen a 30% increase in calls for help.
• To meet the need we must double our fundraising by 2015.


The Soldiers’ Charity is for Soldiers, for life and the scope of our work is vast, depending on the need of those we are helping. We support the young and seriously wounded soldiers’ returning from service in Afghanistan with mobility aids such as wheel chairs and home adaptations so they can, for example use their bathroom at home independently and with dignity. We also support older veterans in order for them to stay living independently in their own homes for as long as possible. We often support those who have become homeless to get back into housing through home start up support, education and training bursaries. This help is vital and provides relief to take away some of the financial stresses and barriers so people can get on with rebuilding their lives. We step in when there is no one else
to turn to. These people have done their duty now this is ours.

• We support over 7,000 people each year through individual grants and delivery partners.
• We estimate that the 7,000 helped can be at least double as our support affects a whole family not just the individual
• We turn requests for support around within 24 hours; getting the money to where it is needed fast
