A Great Free Day Out - Prince Albert Angling Society Open Day Sunday June 7th

Bill Pennington Northern Area Liaison Committee Chairman requests the attendance of all Prince Albert members and friends to the Members open day on the 7th June, between 09.30am to 3.30pm at the Post Office stretch on the River Ribble at Ribchester. It’s that time of year again and the Prince Albert “Open Day” is upon us. This event has grown annually since its inception back in the late ninety’s and continues to do so to this day and this year will be no exception. Ever encouraged by the many kind comments from people who attended last year and spurred on by the Northern Liaison Committee, this event will be even bigger this year and we need as many of you to attend as possible. Take note entry is “Free” yes “Free” to all PAAS members and their guests.

The event will be opened by Martin James and has been extended to include even more game and coarse fishing practical instruction, fly tying, the ever popular Bring and Buy stall, trade stands, as well as the original fly casting instruction. The regular casting instructors consisting of Bill Pennington, Neil Barcock, Dion Docherty, Brian Warrington and Steve Whittam will be available for instruction all day and again we will be joined by world famous anglers Charles Jardine and Karl Humphries. Once again, Charles and Karl will be giving us the pleasure of their dual casting demonstrations. Ray Crompton will be displaying a selection of his excellent oil paintings, which will be available for purchase, proceeds to PAAS, so dig deep and splash out on some very special paintings.

Demonstrations will be going on throughout the day and will be as varied as Cooking, Carp fishing, Barbel fishing, spinner making and fly tying. Martin James, will once again be enthralling us with tales of his fishing exploits. Following on from last year’s successful Carp fishing presentation, “Improve your coarse fishing editor” Kevin Green will be putting you on the right track to catching that illusive leviathan. Steve Beech will again be covering tactics for extracting large Barbel. Jean Kirby will be making our mouths water with her cooking demonstration. We will once again see centre pin fishing as it should be carried out with Alan Roe. Mark Lloyd from the newly formed Angling Trust will be joining us this year with their show stand. Please come and meet the new “voice” of angling. (If you’ve got £20 spare, please join if you can- Ed)

The itinerary is likely to be along the lines of that given below, but could be subject to change on the day, it usually is: On the river 10.00 – Brian Warrington double hander demonstration casting with commentary by Karl Humphries 10.45 – Alan Roe Wallace casting 11.30 – Charles Jardine casting demonstration 12.30— Steve Beech barbel fishing 14.00 – Joint casting demonstration Charles Jardine & Karl Humphries In the marquee 09.45 – Welcoming address Martin James 10.00 – Barry Grantham Rod building 10.45 – Martin James’s fishing exploits 11.30 – Jean Kirby cooking demonstration 12.15— Graham Smith Producing PAAS maps 13.00 – Kevin Green Carp fishing 10.00 - 15.00 Ongoing fly tying demonstration 15.00.

What more can I say?
