Big chub from Kennet and barbel stocked in the River Aire

Will Carter's 6lb Chub

Will Carter of Burghfield Berkshire fishing a very low and clear river Kennet with legered crust caught his first 6lb chub. During the session he also had several other chub and barbel to 6-12-0. He used a simple rig of 2LG shot a few inches from a size 4 hook to 6lb line.

River Aire Barbel

Keighley Angling club have stocked a stretch of the river Aire they control with several hundred barbel. The club must be congratulated on this course of action and hopefully in a few years time members can expect to catch this powerful coarse fish in good numbers. What we must ensure is only Keighley AC members fish the water and no illegal fishing takes place. All fish when caught should immediatly be returned to the water.
