Blackpool Angler Alan Roe catches a Big Barbel Float Fishing

Blackpool angler Alan Roe has just finnished a good session on the river Ribble, while most of the country were at home watching England's World Cup match. Alan was working a float down a Ribble barbel swim.

As the float forged its way downstream for perhaps the eighteenth time, during which Alan had caught several 6-7lb barbel. His float searching all the areas of the swim for barbel, dipped under the surface.

Directly Alan hooked the fish he realised he had hooked something special. After another hard fight, a good fish found itself engulfed in the folds of his landing net. A game angler watching Alan play the fish then went off upstream to Eric Hays who had some digital scales which registered the fish at 11lb Alan used a Masterline barbel rod centre pin reel float tackle and gentles as bait.
