British Army Carp Fishing Team Championships 2005

Team Cotswold Bait Creations, led by company owner Phil Chun, this year had a big job on their hands in order to retain their titles from last years event at Nicholls Leisure in Kent. Being current pairs and Team champions meant the opposition where extremely keen to try and make sure they didn't win again!

coming last from the bag, it looked like they had a hard fight on our hands the home team from the lake coming out first with the army teams second!! Our chosen pegs didn't give us much choice other than to try to outbait and outfish the opposition.

The first Twenty Four hours of the match saw Phil Chun and partner Gary Pearson get only one small carp on the bank, one of the other pairs in the team of Dom Eves and Paul Birt where just in the lead with around 98lb.Both them and Phil's team had been spodding out large beds in the region of 20kg of mixed pellets, salmon oil and the Cotswold baits own T2 boilies every 3-4 hours. This was very hard work for everyone, as they were all fishing at around 90-100yds!!

Through the night the teams heavy baiting started to pay off as Phil picked up fish. They still baited up even in darkness. They didn't sleep. Phil hoped it was going to be worth it!! Gary then started to get a few as daylight arrived, but Dom and Paul's swim had almost dried up. The other pair in Phils team of Paul Jafferies and Raimon Hartley also picked a couple of fish up from a very difficult swim.

The final whistle eventually blew, and an exhausted team made their way to the presentations! The results speak for themselves
Pair's title 1st Phil Chun & Gary Pearson (Cotswold bait creations) 170lb 2oz 2nd Dom Eves & Paul birt (Cotswold Bait Creations) 148lb 12oz
3rd Derek (bailiff) and partner representing (Nicholls leisure) 137lb 1oz

Team championship
1st COTSWOLD BAIT CREATIONS
2nd Nicholls leisure
3rd Suffolk carpers
4th Army A
5th ArmyB

Despite what the team thought were tough swims, the Cotswold Bait creations boilies and the hard work in getting the bait regularly out to their swims certainly paid off with Phil Chun and his team sweeping the board for the second year.
