MBE Awarded to Dr Ron Broughton



Manchester author angler Doctor Ron Broughton has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list for his services to freshwater fisheries in the North West.

Retired Airforce Officer 82 year old Ron who still drives a sports car, has worked tierlessly on behalf of anglers for a better water quality in our rivers and the improvement of our fisheries for many years. He was a long serving member of the North West RFERAC, is Chairman of the Lancashire Branch of the Salmon & Trout Association and regularly drives from Salford to Frizzington in west Cumbria to attend meetings of the South & West Cumberland Fisheries Association, that's a round trip of 276 miles. Ron is also very involved with the Lune & Wyre Fisheries Association and he also regularly attends meetings of the North West Fisheries Consultative Council and is an individual member of NAFAC.
