Northern Rivers Are Bank High

The rivers Aire, Ribble, Calder, Wharfe, Wyre and Lune are bank high with lots of floating and submerged rubbish. As of 12 noon today Wednesday 6th October 2004 the gauge on the river Ribble at Grindleton was giving a reading of 6 feet above normal level. I had an early morning session on the river Aire at Keighley but gave up after two hours. Floating and submerged rubbish with a gale force wind and heavy rain showers made fishing rather difficult and uncomfortable. What surprised me was seeing 5 cormorants on the river. Prospects look a lot better for the weekend.
