New Barbel Record From Great Ouse

Its congratulations to Tony Gibson for setting a new barbel record and catching the first 20lb fish. The current barbel record of 19 lb 6 ounces 8 drams by Steve Curtin has been beaten by a Great Ouse fish weighing 20 lb 6 ounces by a previous barbel record holder Tony Gibson. This latest big barbel is known as the traveller and was recently caught at 18 lbs plus. Back in the 1950's the Late Richard Walker talked about 20lb barbel. Once again the 'Old Master' has been proved right.

Big River Severn Barbel

George William from the West Midlands fishing a high and coloured river Severn caught a super barbel weighing 14 lb 6 ounces. George tackled up with a 12 foot rod, fixed spool reel 15 lb line with a 25 lb braided link attached to a size 6 Owner hook Bait was hair rigged luncheon meat with a weight of 3 ounces to anchor the bait in his swim a few feet from the bank in twelve feet of water
