Game Fishing News 17th february
Ravensthorpe Reservoir, is the first of Anglian Water’s trout fisheries to open on 28 February and a hot favourite to produce the first double figure fish. This picturesque 100 acre Victorian reservoir, in Northants, opens at 7am on Saturday 28 February.
Stocking this year is planned to maintain this fishery’s reputation for plentiful double figure fish. Nearly all the fish stocked will be over 2lb, with some big trout weighing 15lb going in.
In addition to the regular season permits which include all four of Anglian Water’s reservoirs the range of day permits has been extended to give a choice of four fish (£25), two with catch and release (£20) or a purely sporting permit (£15) where every fish is returned. Anglian Water’s senior warden Nathan Clayton said “We have added these new options in response to suggestions from our customers and I am sure they will be popular.”
Motor boats are on hire at last year’s prices £18 for a full day. Telephone 01604 781350 (Friday – Sunday to 23 February) to reserve boats.
