Good news ahead of the new fly-fishing season 8th February
Anglian Water’s four trout fisheries will soon be opening and there is some good news for the thousands of anglers who travel from all over the UK to these popular reservoirs. A range of season permits give fishing at all four of these top fisheries and are priced at £299 to £659 depending upon how often anglers fish and how many trout they expect to catch. Full details will shortly be published in Hooked! magazine available free of charge from all Fishing Lodges and mailed to 20,000 anglers who regularly visit these reservoirs.
Ravensthorpe, Northants, opens at 7am on Saturday 28 February and will be stocked with big trout, some weighing 15lbs. Permits to take 4 or 2 fish and a catch and release permit will be available at prices from £15 to £25. Motor boats are on hire at last year’s prices £18 for a full day. Pitsford, Northants, opens Friday 12 March with a day permit £17 to catch six fish with catch & release or a Sporting C&R permit taking one fish £15. Boat hire is £19 per day for two anglers throughout the week with single manned boats at £12.

Grafham, Cambs, opens Friday 19 March in the winter zone east of the Lodge car park and the western end opens 1 April. Day permits for 8 fish are held at £17 and boat hire at £23. Single manned boats are £15. telephone 01480 810531 to reserve boats
Rutland Water opens Thursday 1 April with day permits £17 to take 8 fish and catch & release permits £15 available until 31 May. Boats are £23 per day and single manned £15. Telephone 01780 686441 to reserve boats.
Anglian Water’s Fishery Manager Jon Marshall said, “Everyone is very keen to get fishing again. We have had a great response to our beginners courses and special starter season permits which enable anyone to learn fly-fishing skills and enjoy all these attractive reservoirs at a very modest cost”.
